About Feed Nola

  • Hungry kids are headed back to the classroom.

Kids and their parents shouldn't have to worry about their next meal. They should be focused on homework and learning.
  • No One Can Thrive on an Empty Stomach

41 million people face hunger in the U.S. today — including nearly 13 million children and more than five million seniors. Hunger knows no boundaries — it touches every community in the United States including your own.
  • Who goes hungry?

Hunger can affect people from all walks of life. Many Americans are one job loss or medical crisis away from food insecurity – but some people, including children and seniors, may be at greater risk of hunger than others. Get the facts.
  • Hunger deprives our kids of more than just food

It’s a simple fact: A child’s chance for a bright tomorrow starts with getting enough healthy food to eat today. But in America, 1 in 6 children may not know where they will get their next meal. For the nearly 13 million kids in the U.S. facing hunger, getting the energy they need to learn and grow can be a day-in, day-out challenge.
  • Senior hunger poses unique challenges

Nearly 5 million senior citizens currently face hunger in our country. After a lifetime of hard work, 63% of the households with older adults (50+) that Feeding America serves find themselves facing an impossible choice — to buy groceries or medical care. And as the baby-boom generation ages, the number of seniors facing hunger is only expected to increase. Feeding America is working hard to prevent this.he U.S., including your own.
  • Real Story of Hunger: Meet Pat

Pat and her husband, Red, live with their daughter, Candy, in Wells, Vermont. Red has Alzheimer's disease and Pat lives with diabetes. On a limited fixed income, it can be tough to buy healthy food. Thankfully, Pat’s local food pantry gives her the nutritious fruits and vegetables she and Red need. By providing meals to seniors like Pat, the Feeding America network of food banks is helping to keep seniors healthy longer — and making it possible for our seniors to age with dignity and wellness.

What We Do

Feed NOLA, a partner of Giving Hope NOLA and the New Orleans Food Pantry is helping to aid the hungry and food insecure of New Orleans. Together, with the assistance of Second Harvest Food Bank, Feed NOLA is actively engaged in food collection and distribution throughout New Orleans. Our slogan is our firm belief, and our mantra, “a city known for food, shouldn’t have hungry people.” If you agree with that, we would love to have you assist, volunteer or partner as we work to stop hunger and food insecurity in NOLA.
